Meet the Consultant...
Marilyn Hollinquest M.A is an experienced writing coach and academic consultant. She helps undergraduate/graduate student’s and professionals complete writing projects in an organized timely manner. Meeting each student at their personal writing crossroads she supports them through each stage of the writing process by helping them find their academic voice, silence their inner critic, and create a realistic writing schedule they can stick to! Marilyn also writes grants, business plans and proposals for non-profits and professionals in addition to resumes/cover letters.
Academic Background
Marilyn received her undergraduate degree in Community Studies from the University of California - Santa Cruz with High Honors in 2003. During her time at UCSC, she was a writing tutor, a Teacher’s Assistant, and an undergraduate seminar instructor.
In 2008, Marilyn was awarded her Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University, her thesis focused on effective recruitment and retention strategies for "first generation" female college students. Marilyn was a Teacher’s Assistant and guest lecturer for several undergraduate classes. She then began working in the educational nonprofit world as a writing coach and college counselor, which has strengthened her mission to help students demystify academia.
